Why AMSYSCO > History
HISTORY

AMSYSCO, Inc. has been serving the needs of the construction industry since 1981. During this time, we have transformed from a small player to a leading post-tensioning supplier. Follow some of the key events that track AMSYSCO’s history below:

Major Milestones:

1981

  • On October 2nd, Rattan L. Khosa, President and CEO, incorporated AMSYSCO, Inc. The company’s office had the humble beginnings providing PT engineering and shop drawings services in Mr. Khosa’s basement. AMSYSCO purchased steel strand and the fabrication of material was outsourced.
  • AMSYSCO awarded PT for St. Louis Garage (600,000 feet of PT.)

1982

  • The first phase of Chicago’s North Loop Transportation Center (12 garage floors) was awarded to AMSYSCO. The second phase (18 office floors) was awarded to AMSYSCO in 1984.
  • On November 18th, Rattan Khosa purchased a 10,000 sq.ft. industrial building in Addison, IL. The company installed a cutting line for fabricating post-tensioning tendons. The plastic-coating of steel was still outsourced.

1983

  • A new “heat-sealing line” for plastic-coating the cable went into operation.
  • AMSYSCO became one of the few companies to use its own anchor (AM7) after conducting a rigorous static and dynamic testing.

1984

  • AMSYSCO joined Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI).
  • Hermitage Apartments, a 28-story high-rise that was originally designed in conventional rebar, was redesigned into a PT frame with the help of AMSYSCO. The Value Engineering saved the owner approx. $600,000.
  • Awarded PT for Place LaSalle Apartments based on Value Engineering ideas from AMSYSCO.

1985

  • Awarded PT for Greenview, twin high-rise towers that were value engineered from rebar to PT with AMSYSCO'S technical expertise.
  • In December, AMSYSCO installed a new extrusion line to manufacture the plastic sheathing for PT tendons. The old heat-sealing line was discontinued.

1986

  • Awarded PT for Milwaukee Theatre District. The mixed-use structure consisted of an office building, a hotel and an underground parking garage.

1989

  • AMSYSCO’s manufacturing plant was certified under the PTI Plant Certification Program. AMSYSCO has remained certified every year since with one of it's highest ratings. This program involves two unannounced inspections annually.

1990

  • Awarded PT for Leamington Transportation Hub by the City of Minneapolis (1.3 million feet). This contract required a performance bond and bid bond.

1993

  • Rattan Khosa starts serving on Post-Tensioning Institute's Executive Commitee.
