VIDEO : Post-Tensioning – Cutting Line Machine

This short video shows the process of cutting extruded post-tension cables into individual tendons. Eventually the tendons are secured and anchorages are attached. Then the tendons are packaged and shipped to construction sites.

This process is for Unbonded Post-Tensioning System used in Concrete Construction. Visit www.amsyscoinc.com for further information.

VIDEO: Plastic Extrusion of PC Strand for Unbonded Post-Tensioning

This video shows the Plastic Extrusion process for Unbonded Post-Tensioning.  Raw materials include steel PC Strand, corrosion-inhibiting Post Tensioning coating and HDPE plastic with color concentrate.

The steel strand is moving at over 200 feet per minute in the extrusion machine. First the steel PC strand is coated with corrosion-inhibiting Post-Tension Coating (“grease”). Then, the coated steel has either 40ml or 50ml of HDPE (high-density-polyethylene) plastic extruded over it. Finally, the extruded strand is cooled within a long trough of chilled water.

VIDEO: Chicago Model City

I visited the “Chicago Model City” exhibit this weekend.  The 3-D architectural models gave me a great birds-eye-view of downtown Chicago.  The great thing was that I could see a lot of our Post Tensioned High-Rise Buildings within a 320 square-foot area.

The “Chicago Model City” exhibit is open daily and the Chicago Architecture Foundation gives a history of Daniel Burnham’s city plan for Chicago on Fridays and Saturdays 12:30PM.  Kudos to the Chicago Architecture Foundation.

Visit www.chicagomodelcity.org/ and http://www.architecture.org/ for more information.
